  1. Sounds Terrific 2 Read Me File.
  2.  
  3. Sounds  Terrific 2 is a double CD set dedicated  to  Music
  4. and  Sounds.   The contents include modules, screamtracker
  5. modules, midi files, wav files, instruments in wav  format
  6. and  utilities.  Also included is a simple GUI to help you
  7. explore the compact discs and audition the files.
  8.  
  9. The  program  SOUNDS.EXE  is the  GUI  provided  for  this
  10. purpose.   It  should auto run when the  compact  disc  is
  11. inserted  into a Windows 95 machine.  A Windows  3.x  user
  12. will  have to run the program from the File|Run menu.   It
  13. should  be  run directly from compact disc  and  has  been
  14. provided on both compact discs.

  16. Also  included is the shareware version of Mod4Win (latest
  17. version  as at May 1996.)  This excellent program  is  the
  18. best  module  player  for the IBM PC  and  is  Windows  95
  19. compatible.  Our SOUNDS.EXE program will check your  'C:\'
  20. drive and offer to install the Mod4Win program to you hard
  21. drive  if  you wish. It is not required, however  it  does
  22. provide  a  large array of features that you may  wish  to
  23. try.  The version of Mod4Win provided is shareware and  so
  24. it  will  be necessary to pay a shareware fee to  register
  25. the product for prolonged use.  Our SOUNDS.EXE program  is
  26. using the Mod4Win Player32.dll to play the modules and S3M
  27. files  on our compact discs.  All of the music and  sounds
  28. files,  with the exception of the instruments, are  public
  29. domain.  The instruments are copyright Walkabout Music and
  30. have been provided for you to use in your own compositions
  31. freely.  The instruments may not be redistributed  as  WAV
  32. files.

  34. Our  interface  is  simple.  The MOD,  S3M,  WAV  and  MID
  35. buttons just take you to the correct directories, enabling
  36. easy exploration of the contents of the compact discs.  To
  37. select  a  file just click on the file name  in  the  file
  38. requester  at  the right hand side of the interface.   The
  39. WAV  &  MID  files  can  be controlled  with  the  'video'
  40. controls at the bottom left side of the interface.

  42. Beneath  the  file list on the right hand  side  are  some
  43. controls  to allow you to scan a directory.  If you  press
  44. the  'SCAN'  button  each of the files  in  the  displayed
  45. directory will play for 15 seconds before carrying  on  to
  46. the next file in the list.  If you like one of the scanned
  47. files and wish it to continue then press the 'PLAY' button
  48. To  continue scanning after playing a file just press  the
  49. 'SCAN' button again.  To play all of the files in a  given
  50. directory  for  their entire length just press  the  'ALL'
  51. button.   This  will commence playing at  the  highlighted
  52. file  or  at  the  top of the directory if  no  files  are
  53. highlighted.

  55. It  is of course possible to copy files to a directory  on
  56. your  hard drive and use the 'PLAY' button to play all  of
  57. the  files in that directory.  The files can be a  mixture
  58. of modules, midi files or wav files.

  60. All  other  controls are self explanatory.   Each  of  the
  61. compact  discs included in this set have the interface  so
  62. no  matter which one is put into your machine the  program
  63. will  run.  It is probably a good idea to exit the program
  64. before  the  compact  disc  is  changed,  particularly  on
  65. Windows  95  setups,  the program will  automatically  run
  66. again.
